Object Theory @ Microsoft Inspire 2018

Object Theory is attending the Mixed Reality Partner Program (MRPP) Summit and Microsoft Inspire this week in Las Vegas. If you are attending, join the session AP119 - “The digital future: From mobile to mixed reality and gaming” in the South Pacific Ballroom C at 1230pm on Tuesday, July 17th, 2018, to hear Object Theory cofounder Raven Zachary speak about his journey from mobile to mixed reality.

17 Mixed Reality Use Cases

image

Co-founder Michael Hoffman presented 17 MR use cases, their benefits and challenges at Augmented World Expo in Santa Clara last week. These represent the top use cases (individually or in combinations) where we see mixed reality delivering differentiated and quantifiable value. Object Theory has already delivered 11 of these 17 use cases to a wide variety of F1000 clients.

Once AWE posts the presentation video, I’ll share a link. In the meantime, here are the slides:

Acer Marketing Videos

Object Theory is excited to be included in a series of new Acer Windows Mixed Reality immersive Headset developer marketing videos. Acer visited us at our office in Portland, Oregon, all the way from Taipei, Taiwan, a couple of months ago, and interviewed us about our experience working with the Acer Immersive Headset for Windows Mixed Reality.

Acer has published three new Windows Mixed Reality marketing videos geared towards the developer experience. If you take a close look, you can get a sneak peak of our Windows Mixed Reality Immersive Headset version of Prism by Object Theory.

Prism by Object Theory

We’re excited to announce today the launch of Prism by Object Theory, a free collaboration experience for HoloLens on the Windows Store. This is our first public application release. This application allows participants to discuss truly three-dimensional objects and environments from anywhere in the world through shared experiences.

Prism is a demonstration of the Object Theory Mixed Reality Collaboration Service, which helps organizations design and build holographic shared experiences by allowing collaboration in real time from remote locations, enabled by life-size 3D avatars and spatial audio chat. The application allows participation for up to four participants per session and includes two demo experiences – designing a modern house and planning a mountain hike on Mount Hood, Oregon’s highest peak.

Object Theory has enterprise customers using the Mixed Reality Collaboration Service for custom applications in multiple industry verticals including Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC), Energy & Utilities, and Automotive.

At its core, Prism by Object Theory represents the vision of collaborative computing that HoloLens creator and Microsoft Technical Fellow Alex Kipman shared this year at the de:code 2017 Conference Keynote in Japan (jump to 2:16:00 in the video). Our public release of this application is just the beginning of showcasing next-generation collaboration scenarios, something we expect to be a major focus for Microsoft HoloLens and Windows Mixed Reality applications in the years to come.
