We’re excited to announce today the launch of Prism by Object Theory, a free collaboration experience for HoloLens on the Windows Store. This is our first public application release. This application allows participants to discuss truly three-dimensional objects and environments from anywhere in the world through shared experiences.
Prism is a demonstration of the Object Theory Mixed Reality Collaboration Service, which helps organizations design and build holographic shared experiences by allowing collaboration in real time from remote locations, enabled by life-size 3D avatars and spatial audio chat. The application allows participation for up to four participants per session and includes two demo experiences – designing a modern house and planning a mountain hike on Mount Hood, Oregon’s highest peak.
Object Theory has enterprise customers using the Mixed Reality Collaboration Service for custom applications in multiple industry verticals including Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC), Energy & Utilities, and Automotive.
At its core, Prism by Object Theory represents the vision of collaborative computing that HoloLens creator and Microsoft Technical Fellow Alex Kipman shared this year at the de:code 2017 Conference Keynote in Japan (jump to 2:16:00 in the video). Our public release of this application is just the beginning of showcasing next-generation collaboration scenarios, something we expect to be a major focus for Microsoft HoloLens and Windows Mixed Reality applications in the years to come.
